The panorama is surrounded by several landmarks such as the War Memorial built by the French, the Statue of Joan of Arc, the Heritage Town hall, the Statue of Mahatma Gandhi, Dupleix statue, the Old Light House, remains of the old pier, and the Old Customs House.Due to its french culture,Pondichery has always remained a cosmopolitan place.
